Nathalia Suizu

Suizu is a Melbourne based artist who strives to live and paint by the mantra 'follow your bliss'. She is a self-taught painter with a background in interior design. Naive forms, clashing patterns, textural relief and sparkling embellishments are signature to Nathalia’s visual lexicon, which she delivers in a dazzling palette of richly saturated colour.

Reflecting her widely travelled spirit, Nathalia’s work takes influence from Latin American folk art, psychedelia, textile design and spiritual iconography. Layered with symbolism and totemic motifs, her painted narratives allude to themes of mythology, mysticism, enchantment and natural cycles.

She dances between careful consideration and playful spontaneity when mark making, searching for balance, resonance and meaning in each piece. Her unique paintings chart an exploration of consciousness and self-discovery, and are life affirming manifestations of wonder, beauty and joy.
