Elevate Your Kitchen

Elevate Your Kitchen

Whether it’s an old home, a new home or a rented home, we love introducing colour, texture and artwork into a kitchen. From collected to treasures to statement lighting, the kitchen should be anything but boring.
Here, we share some top tips to elevate your kitchen through layering, styling and curating your treasures.
1. Start by creating a moodboard
Layer images, materials, selections and artwork until it feels balanced, interesting and evokes an emotional response. From calm to happy, moody to energetic. This is the place to think about colour and how it can reimagine your space.
2. Aim for a mix of materials and textures
Finishes, textures and the introduction of interesting shapes and ceramics are key elements to introducing warmth and personality to a space. Draw on a desired style or mood, balancing aesthetics with functionality. Bar stools in interesting materials and shapes and eye-catching light fittings are a great place to start.
3. Curate countertop vignettes
This is a great way to add visuals interest and your own sense of style without having to spend on fixtures and fittings. Find a few items of varying heights and materials and curate little displays. Statement trays, sculptural vases, quirky ceramics, vintage glassware, cookbooks and fresh flowers are our go-to faves.
4. Make a style statement with your backsplash
Here, practicality and aesthetics both deserve equal attention, with the aim to make a style statement and backdrop to show off some of the equipment or goods you’ll regularly use or love so much, you don’t want them hidden behind doors.
5. Introduce art into your kitchen
At fenton & fenton, no room is complete without the addition of art, and the kitchen shouldn’t be different to any other room in the house. A small, framed artwork or statement sculpture can be all it takes to elevate the every day. If you don’t have the wall space to hang artwork, consider resting it on a counter or top shelf.
