How has being a mum (or having a mum!) influenced your style?
So I think actually having a has influenced my style more than being a I feel like I'll sometimes wake up and just can't be bothered getting dressed, but mum always just woke up in the morning, still to this day puts a full outfit on, gets ready for the day.
She's got iconic jewellery – I've actually got a tattoo of her jewellery. Everyone stops her in the street because she's always wearing like 10 rings and like bracelet stacks and everything – So that's definitely influenced my style.
Mum uniform vs. fashion icon—how do you balance comfort and style in daily life?
I have my work days where I usually am in like a normal, well, a proper good stylish outfit. But then on my mum days, I seriously need to be comfy – I'm doing housework, I'm running after the boys, I'm going to the park and everything.
I have my mum uniform that I still feel good in and still feel stylish in, but it's really, really, really comfy.
What's a "mum-approved" trend you're loving right now?
I actually feel like at the moment, mums are really focusing on dressing to make themselves feel good, wearing exactly what they want to wear – wearing colour, wearing things that make them happy. So I think there's like a massive shift – in the ways that mums look after themselves and just have fun with wearing whatever they want to wear.
How do you hope your kids will remember your style one day?
This is hilarious because I said to Gus today, do you think mum's cool? What do you think dad's like?
And we are always asking are we funny? Are we cool? And he's like, no.
So hopefully one day my kids say, Mum was actually kind of cool.
What legacy, fashion-wise or interior-wise, do you want to pass on to your children?
I hope that my kids know my style as me wearing what I want to wear and it gives them confidence in being themselves and wearing what they want to wear.
What does ‘mum style’ mean to you?
I think it's really important because I feel like Mum’s aren't doing as much self- care as what we used to do. Like I barely do bloody skincare or I'm lucky if I shower every day.
For me, it brings so much confidence to wear what I want to wear and feel good in what you're wearing. Just to tick that off – one thing a day, at least you're feeling good in yourself and what you're wearing and you're not feeling like crap, really.
Do you think personal style and interior design go hand in hand?
If you're into personal style, you're also into interiors. And I guess, I love all the colours that I love. So my house is kind of similar to my wardrobe in terms of colours and all that – but maybe you've got a focus on one or the other.
Would you rather have a perfectly styled wardrobe or a perfectly styled home? (Or is balance the key?)
I think balance is the key. I spend so much time at home, so you want it to be a reflection of your personal style and you want to feel good at home and comfy at home. But if I had to choose one, I have to say like I would be choosing a really well- styled wardrobe.
